I’ve been photographing this family for many years, and was so excited when the newest member joined the Baby Plan! Baby A came in for his second shoot at three months. Wow, has he grown! And big brother and sister were so proud! I am probably getting near the end of bluebonnet season (although my newest patch is pretty packed with blooms still, and I’m shooting Sunday.) If you’ve waited to call, it’s your last chance, as I think most of them will be gone by the end of next week. I took my very first bluebonnet baby [...] The holiday craziness is in full swing! I’m shooting every day and still trying to keep the word count for my new novel Jinnie Wishmaker on pace to finish in November. I hit 25,000 words last night after a mighty struggle. Am I stressed out? You bet. Am I caught up? Well, mostly. We’re having a [...] For the entire eight years I have been a photographer, one piece of equipment never failed me. I’d blown out lights, broken cameras, dropped flashes. I’d gone through monitors, backdrops, and umbrellas. But the tickle monster remained. I know, some kids didn’t like him. But they were rare. Most thrilled to his funny lambswool fuzzies. They [...] Success! Hard won. Fought for. Struggled with. But success! For those of you following the Ho Ho Ho prop debacle, boy, this has been the year for making difficult props. I swear next year I’m going to hop on to some photography online store and buy ready-made stuff. But probably by next November, I will [...] Ever since I showed Elizabeth a YouTube clip of Shirley Temple performing “Good Ship Lollipop,” which is her recital song for ballet class, Elizabeth has been star struck. We have gorged on Shirley Temple, and I find it amusing when my little diva starts imitating her. I’ll enjoy these days, because very soon it will [...] I am always eager for the bluebonnets to arrive. Fields of flowers make any drive better, and since I am often on Loop 360, I get an eyeful every time I go anywhere. Last night, though, after spending hours working on bluebonnet portraits shot during my special, I dreamed of lying in a field of them [...] Many people rant about Christmas trees going up in summer at craft stores, gift displays erected before Halloween, and general rumbling about department store holiday Muzak in November. I beat everyone, always, as I have to prepare well in advance of Christmas for holiday portraits. By mid-summer I’m already sweating the new holiday scene, watching [...] Ahhh. Both girls are in school today, the first time they’ve both been gone at the same time. It’s been a long day. I feel like I should have accomplished a whole lot more. But I did: *Take my first NIA class. It did not really challenge me cardio-vascularly, which I expected, since I’m so [...] |
